Scenic roads require practical planning

Check conditions

Use WYDOT 511 plus park or forest alerts. A road can be paved and still be closed, snowpacked or affected by wildfire.

Protect daylight

Curves, wildlife and pullouts make scenic mileage slower. Avoid stacking a full drive onto an already long transfer day.

Carry the basics

Begin remote stretches with fuel, water, layers and downloaded directions. Cell service is not guaranteed.
